Nice

I'm from out of town (San Antonio) and showed up there early and alone. The staff and manager were very nice and made me feel welcome and right at home! Lots of girls doing the two-step, very well I might add, but not to many guys. In fact, I think all the guys that were there were straight... Or maybe they just didn't like me! In any case, the place seemed nice enough.

Lots of fun!

Well, the 2-steppin' is only on Friday and Saturday nights, but there's still a great time to be had at Rusty Spurs. The cute bartender and the attentive manager couldn't have been sweeter, and the drinks were well priced and well mixed. Can't say much about the decor, as the place is pretty much just 4 walls and a bar, although the patio's nice if it's not too hot. Not much of a crowd on Wednesday night, but the folks who *were* there were all friendly and welcoming. Word is the Sunday Beer Bust & Latin Night is *the* time to hang out here.

my favorite gay friendly bar in Austin

I love this bar. While the clientel is mostly gay it is a great place where everyone can feel comfortable, have a drink served by the best bartenders, laugh it up with old friends while making some new ones and really just be yourself. There's always something going on here too. Live music from some of Austin's well known artists drive the beat!

Great place to meet people

While visiting Austin to look for a house for my upcoming relocation from Florida I decided to checkout the local night life. I found Rusty Spurs on this site and thought it would be a good place to go since I like country music. It was not what I expected, the crowd was small, nobody was line dancing, and the DJ did not seem to have the songs I wanted to hear. However, the small crowd and bartenders were very friendly. I have been in management going on 20yrs. and I can honestly say, the staff is a good staff and made me feel very welcome and comfortable, I even made some new friends.
