Girl Talk is a meetup group that I created two years ago in order to bring bisexual women together in a safe space for support and social activities with like minded ladies. The B in LGBTQ tends to get ignored or dismissed within the gay community as well as outside of it. Almost 50% of the LGBTQ community identify as bisexual yet a very large percent of those would rather identify publicly as gay or straight because of the stigma of being bisexual. This makes it hard for bisexuals to feel fully accepted in both the straight and gay communities which is why statistically they are more likely to be depressed, self-harm and commit suicide than gay, lesbian or straight people. So please join in with me to show the B in LGBTQ that we are here to support them also! Everyone is welcome to march with us no matter your gender or sexuality we welcome all allies! Last year we received a huge response to our small group that marched, mostly from the younger crowd who most likely had never seen bisexuals represented in the Austin Pride parade before, I know I hadn't. So please come out, show your love for bisexuals and people of all sexualities and their right to express that just like anyone else!!
Here is a good article on biphobia and how it affects bisexual people.
