Gay bar right in the shadow of the state capitol
This popular dance bar is the oldest gay bar in Austin and attracts a mostly male crowd of all ages and types. Come here for dancing, cruising and male dancers on the bar almost every night of the week. Newly renovated cafe is open as well. Be careful not to go home with the closeted antigay politician known to frequent this cool joint--or simply take along a camera! Over the years Charlie's Austin has been home to numerous state and nationally prized female impersonators.

A great place to be at

I enjoy it here. I've been here a couple of times and recently went for the first time in over a few months. I come from outta town and eventhough im by myself i still have a good time. Bartenders are great and the atmosphere was pretty good. I enjoyed the go-go dancer as well nice guy gave me some nice dances well worth the tips. It was on a wednesday that i went so it was pretty calm but still good place. If i had to say one thing bad about it it would be that The dancer would be dancing then would get down mingle with frinds text on his phone and it was happening a little to often but i got my dances and enjoyed it.

Austins #1 Place to Be Seen !

I just love this place, one of Austin’s land mark nightclubs so many people have been here they should have a sign like Mc D’s that say Billions & Billions served, It has been here so long that customers children are now old enough to be new customers, How Kool is That. Keep up the good work !
