1-2 p.m. - Hands On: Box Garden Activity
1). Learn why we should get involved in what we are eating and do something about it
2).Learn what is a good seed vs a bad seed
3) Learn how to take care of our new plants
2 p.m. - FIlm Screening and Discussion: The New Juneteenth
"The New Juneteenth" chronicles the inspired mission of a man born in Galveston where this celebration began. He realized the importance of this day as an adult and began questioning why Juneteenth was always overlooked. After years of research and no solid answers - armed with only his camera and a vision - he decided to reach out to people from all walks of life determined to help raise awareness, respect and support for Juneteenth. By presenting the undeniable significance of Juneteenth to world history, the film hopes to help create a new spirit of love, pride and unity for all descendants of those effected by slavery.
