Attention, Sailor Scouts and Negatrash alike! International Sailor Moon Day Austin is back for another party full of love, friendship, and free stuff to do on a Saturday afternoon!
Whether you're a casual fan who grew up with the series, a cosplaying, Figurearts-collecting Sailor Moon fiend, or you’re discovering the power of feels and interstellar justice for the first time, Austin’s International Sailor Moon Day celebration will have something for you!
We’re going to be celebrating International Sailor Moon Day along with fans all over the world. Join us at the Highball on August 6th for music, comics, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff to check out. We will also have a photo booth, an out-of-this-world costume contest, and even more cool vendors and artists to check out. Plus, it’s a free, all-ages celebration, so feel free to bring a friend or three!
We will be posting events, activities, and ways to get involved on this event page over the next few weeks.
In the meantime, see the info below if you want to get in on our costume contest, and drop us a line if you have any questions about the event. We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!

Costume Contest
Enter into one of the following categories below to win prizes:
The Sailor Moon Crown: For traditional, straight-up costumes from the series -- sailor costumes, Princess Serenity gowns, and more! The closer you look to walking straight out of the manga or anime, the better.
The Sailor Jupiter Crown: For casual / closet costumes. Show us your most creative way of using everyday clothing to bring your character to life for this crown.
The Sailor Galaxia Crown: For everything else! Show us your creativity with your crossover, themed, or otherwise unique / miscellaneous costumes for this crown.
Gender swapped/gender non-conforming costumes are welcome in any category. Each group listed above depends on interest and participation.
**International Sailor Moon Day - Austin (ISMD-A) Code of Conduct**
All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our event are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
The Quick Version
International Sailor Moon Day - Austin is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any event activity, including contests, talks, photo opportunities, Twitter and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers.
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion; sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation; stalking; following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other activities; inappropriate physical contact; and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Remember that "no means no". If someone asks you to stop speaking about a particular subject, or to leave them alone, please do so.
While ISMD-A is an all-ages event, the venue does serve alcohol to those who are of age. Please consume alcohol responsibly.
Support your friends and fellow fans. If you see someone behaving badly, please let them know that you're not OK with it.
Vendors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, vendors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff or a designated duty officer immediately. Duty officers can be identified as they'll be wearing conspicuously large and brightly-colored hats.
Event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules throughout the event venue and at event-related social gatherings.
This code of conduct was adapted from the Conference Code of Conduct and using additional materials and guidelines from the Geek Feminism Wiki.
