Equality Now @ A.C.C. is honored to be host to this Harvey Milk Day Conference and carry on the tradition started by E.A.A. last year. Your assistance in the past made last years event a success. Not because it was measured in dollars raised, but because we built a network of people willing to work tirelessly for full equality of all people. You have set the stage to begin a movement. With your help again this year, I believe that Texas can lead the way in full civil equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, just as Mississippi led the way in the 1960s and made an immeasurable difference in the lives of the African American community. But this movement isnt just about lesbians or gays. Its not solely about bisexuals or transgender people. Its about women, immigrants, children, people of color, the workers and all of the rainbow that makes up our diverse LGBT community. Simply put, it is about equality.
Harvey Milk was a man for the people. He stood with them all, and shoulder to shoulder dedicated his life to make the world a better place. We are once again honoring his legacy as we follow in his footsteps for the Second Annual Harvey Milk Day Conference.
I hope you will join us and once again unite for FULL equality in ALL matters governed by civil law in ALL 50 states for EVERY resident. We can make this year's conference even better than the last.
