On January 29th, Free and Queer Cinema and Polari/aGLIFF make all your superhero fantasies come true!

SCREENING: MADAME X (Indonesia, 2010) is an action-packed, spectacled glitter-bomb in which a hairdresser-by-day becomes an ass-kicking transgender superhero by night, battling bigotry and fascism with high-flying stiletto kicks and a mighty queer flip of the wrist. As Variety says, MADAME X “is just as much fun as it sounds, packaging the irreverent, often riotous antics and a clear pro-diversity message in a superhero-movie format delivered with a big, curly-lashed wink.” Unavailable elsewhere, we are excited to finally bring this film to Austin.
PRE-SCREENING ENTERTAINMENT: Before the show we bring you a Pow!-Blam!-Splat! of local superhero might, including:
1) A special performance by Zane Coxx, Austin's own transgender wrestling titan and two time TCW Woman’s Champion!
2) Your favorite superhero theme songs, performed live by fabulous caped crusader Fantasy!
3) FREE superhero facepainting by local artist extraordinaire Marcus Sanchez!
Hosted by dizzy grand dame REBECCA HAVEMEYER!
DJ and dancing following the screening, plus PRIZE giveaways!
