While Thursday nights are worth a short visit, you can pretty much skip the rest of the week. If you do go on a Thursday, take some earplugs, because the over-played top 40 music will be played at a deafening decibel leaving you with temporary hearing loss.
The manager (owner?) is incredibly rude and tends to act like her customers are more of a nuisance than her actual business.
The DJ is rude, won't take requests, won't turn the music down to a more sufferable level, and won't change up the music even when no one is dancing.
While there are about three bartenders worth their weight, the other bartenders are rude and slow.
The bar is NOT trans-friendly...honestly, it's no one friendly unless you happen to have a personal connection to one of the bartenders or managers. The many bathroom debacles over the last two or so years speak volumes to how management feels about transgendered folks in their bar.
SKIP IT!
I used to love going to dance at this place, now that the lesbian sister took over at DJ; the crowd has changed and WENT DOWN HILL FAST! Men tip the bartenders, lesbians don't....
I have many fond memories of Rainbow Cattle Company before it was "remodeled" and turned into a total dump! It has nothing going for it.
I used to love going to RCC. Good music, good people, nice atmosphere.
I hate it now---the owner has run it into the ground. They only play country music on Saturday and people just don't go there anymore.
The bar is ok, but this past Sunday the Cinco the Mayo Drag show was horrible, to the owner....PLEASE don't slap your customer with this type of presentation. Thanks.
A comfortable C & W venue, with free lessons, good DJs, and a lively crowd. The crowd is really good-natured and mixed, with gay and lesbian couples, singles, and some straight couples. Everybody's into two-stepping, some into line-dancing. It can be clique-ish, but that's Austin!
RCC is the most authentic gay club in Austin. Aside from the large dance floor, this bar is a great reflection of Austin, Texas, and Gay culture. Few bars are capable of pulling off multiple genres, but RCC brings delight to country and hispanic members of the community, with some pop sprinkled in. You are guaranteed to enjoy yourself, even if it's just because you never really get an opportunity to see two men slow dance to "Stand by your man."
If RCC had better music on Fridays it would have more than five people. Its great on Thursdays but you have to go late. I do like the bartenders and the djs always welcome requests. (Bobby that is)
Wonderful bar with great people, very friendly and the staff is great........especially Pappy and Juan........

This is one of the few gay & lesbian bars in town, where the cowboys & cowgirls co-mingle in a simple laid back atmosphere of hot 2-steppin' w/ upbeat great country music to boot! Also, it has one of the largest dance floors I've ever seen in town. My new BF & I took our girlfriends here & had a really fun time. We got a drink, from one of Austin's longtime country bartender's....who happens to be my favorite & still one of the best around, then we mosey'd on over to watch the boot scoot'n. My girl was very impressed w/ how well all the men danced together. We were even approached by a nice lady who offered to dance w/ any one of us....however, we declined. Even if you don't dance you will enjoy some great music & be well entertained by all the accomplished (& non-accomplished)light footed-ness constantly moving around the dance floor. And, if you like looking @ men in their "Cowboy Drag" this is the only place in town to do so. It is also like I said before one of the few places to catch the Cow-gals as well, since Austin hasn't had a real Lesbian Bar in years. So ride on out after sunset to the RCC...you won't regret it!!!
This bar seems really clickish and not relaxing at all. Few people talk to strangers, which was a very different from the other Austin gay bars where I found the other guys and gals so easy to talk to.
It was way to stuffy for the laidback feel of Austin.
Thank you Josh. Bill and I had a great time in Austin. We felt very comfortable at the Rainbow cattle club, hope to meet Andy the next time we come in..This Bar was very cool to see, great crowd.best prices,no cover and great bar staff.
