Rusty Spurs is a saloon-inspired bar that features a variety of country western dancing several times a week. Lessons occur a few nights a week for beginners, and for those more daring, open dance nights occur on the weekends.

As an overseas contractor, I don't get to go back to the U.S. much. I planned my R&R so I would have a full weekend in Austin. I found the Rusty Spurs and fell in love with the bar and the friendly staff. It's a must see while in Austin.

Great round-up of the friendliest people and staff in Austin!
3 large bars: main bar plays country and has a big dance floor, outside bar with theme nights plays anything from rock to disco, and the new bar recently opened next door has a lounge mood for the more subtle cocktail crowd!

Was there last weekend (7/7/09) and the Air Conditioning was on the fritz! While the place is large, and the beer cold, I just couldn't get over the fact that is was so DAMN hot! Also, it's extremely narrow, so you get a chance to rub up on people as you walk by, and when EVERYBODY is sweaty it's not that much fun. Defineately go if you're into country/western dancing, as its a great space!!!

This place has a much better and friendlier staff, hot men and women, and always packed.

Now Austin has a true cowboy bar and a great one at that. It's a “where you feel at home” kind of placed and the staff is so friendly and down to earth. Just off the beaten path of 6th street with lots of parking and MEN, MEN & more Men I didn’t think this many cowboy’s still lived in Austin. The ladies that where there are a small group but they mix right in with the men and everyone gets along something I haven’t seen here for years. We got there at 11pm on Friday and they had a live music on the patio with a DJ and dancing in the main dance hall we found parking right across the street in a huge lot and there are many in the area. The prices very reasonable and their happy hour prices are the best I’ve seen in town. With (4) 52” flat screen they played video’s on and from what I understand they will be showing the UT games on the weekend it’s a must see. This is what a cowboy bar should be and it looks like Austin just made the winning score with this one.
P.S. Rusty Spurs was just voted the Best New Club of 2008 By the Readers Poll in the Austin Chronicle.
